Investigators probing the 2021 post-poll violence in West Bengal have launched 458 fresh enquiries, registered 181 FIRs, and reopened 59 previously closed cases as part of an expanded investigation into alleged incidents that followed the state assembly elections.
The probe focuses on allegations of violence, intimidation, property damage, and attacks reported after the election results were announced in 2021. Authorities said the renewed action aims to ensure a comprehensive review of complaints and gather additional evidence related to the incidents.
The post-poll violence issue has remained politically sensitive, with opposition parties and ruling leaders continuing to exchange accusations over law and order and the handling of the investigations.
