All India Imam Organisation Chief Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi Backs Demand to Declare Cow as National Animal
Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, the Chief Imam of the All India Imam Organisation, on Friday expressed support for the campaign seeking to declare the cow as India’s national animal.

Speaking on the issue, Ilyasi said the cow holds deep religious significance for the Hindu community and deserves respect across society.

“We support the campaign for the cow to be declared the national animal; it represents the faith of the Hindu community,” he said.

His remarks come amid continuing discussions and demands from various religious and social groups advocating stronger protection measures for cows and recognition of their cultural and spiritual importance in India.

The statement has drawn attention due to the support coming from a prominent Muslim religious leader, with supporters describing it as a message of communal harmony and mutual respect among different faiths.

The issue of cow protection has remained a significant socio-political topic in India for several years, with several states already enforcing laws related to cow slaughter and cattle protection.
